photo placeholderA lively samba performance and enthusiastic applause from the audience punctuated the opening of the first public forum for the West Kowloon Cultural District’s (WKCD) Stage 1 Public Engagement Exercise, held at Y-Square in Chai Wan on 8 October 2009. Six young talents from the percussion group Four Gig Heads were the guest performers at the event, and they also delivered an energetic Chinese drum performance for the over 300 student and teacher participants near the end.

The WKCD Authority has rolled out a comprehensive publicity programme to encourage the public to participate in Stage 1 of the Public Engagement Exercise. You might have already come across the various publicity materials, including posters, consultation leaflets, newspaper advertisements, online advertisements, and announcements on television and radio.

From the Consultation Panel Chairman

Professor Stephen Cheung, Chairman of the Consultation Panel, attended the Opening Forum on 8 October 2009, the first public forum on 25 October 2009 and numerous focus group sessions over the past three weeks. He has been very pleased with the attendance and says it is encouraging to see participants’ eagerness to express their views on the WKCD.

Dialogue with the community continues
more Following the Opening Forum, which was held on 8 October 2009, and the first public forum on 25 October 2009, the WKCD Authority will organise two more public forums and over 50 focus group sessions during a three-month public engagement period that will end on 7 January 2010.
