Save the dates for a myriad of spectacular programmes at the WKCD!  
Hong Kong has officially entered the most charming season of the year with mild sunshine and nice cool breeze, which is the perfect time for outdoor fun. This Fall, the WKCDA is going to keep art lovers very busy with a myriad of spectacular and sensational programmes all the way to Spring 2014.

Last year's Freespace Fest welcomed 20,000 people at the WKCD.
WKCDA's two signature performing arts events, Freespace Fest and West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre will make a grand comeback with a twist this season. To be held on 14 and 15 December 2013, Freespace Fest will continue to enthrall cross-disciplinary art fans with a variety of performances and activities covering music, dance, theatre, parkour, workshops, talks and open-call programmes by over 400 local and overseas artist units, literature and media art performances will also be added for the first time.

In view of the overwhelming response from its inaugural showcase last year, the weekend festival will remain free to the public and span across the headland of the WKCD site with an area which is 40% larger than last year, accommodating even more music fans and art lovers to immerse themselves in the city's largest outdoor arts and music event. You can lie on the lawn with some great live music while enjoying the breathtaking view of the Victoria Harbour. You are also welcome to bring in your own activities with friends and family, be it picnicking, biking or shuttlecock kicking, just let your creativity and imagination run wild to create your own "freesapce" at WKCD.

The second West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre attracted over 100,000 people during this year's Chinese New Year.
Entering its third run in the Year of the Horse, the West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre has become a popular festive favourite for the people of Hong Kong during the Chinese New Year and it will be further extended to four weeks from 17 January to 9 February next year. To make way for the construction of the Xiqu Centre on Canton Road, the coming Chinese New Year will see the new purpose-built bamboo theatre set against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour at the WKCD waterfront promenade.

Preparing for the opening of the Xiqu Centre in 3 years' time, this year's programme will be even more ambitious with four amazing performances by award-wining artists of the Plum Blossom Prize, China's most prestigious award for drama, ten Cantonese opera performances by an acclaimed cast of virtuosi and young talents, six free screenings of classic Chinese opera related movies, talk on development of Chinese opera, as well as education activities. Food and handicraft lovers must visit the Bamboo Theatre and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of a traditional festival!

Mobile M+: The Neon Project will include an online exhibition which explores neon signs, a very significant feature of Hong Kong's urban environment, from multiple angles.
On the visual art front, M+ continues to roll out a series of nomadic exhibitions across the city in the run up to the scheduled completion of the museum building in 2017. The exhibition that marks the beginning of 2014 will be Building M+: The Museum and Architecture Collection to be held from 9 January to 9 February at the ArtisTree in Takikoo Place. This inaugural architecture exhibition will display the architectural features of the future M+ building by Herzog & de Meuron + TFP Farrells while presenting the other five finalist proposals among which it was selected. A selection of the museum's early acquisitions for the architecture collection including models, drawings and photographs of some of Hong Kong's most iconic buildings can also be showcased.

The very well-received Mobile M+ exhibition series will return in late February 2014, taking the exploration of the city's visual culture to a whole new level by presenting a very significant but often-neglected feature of Hong Kong's urban environment in digital format. The debut online exhibition Mobile M+: The Neon Project will include an online exhibition which presents a range of in-depth research and engaging features exploring neon signs from multiple angles. The public will also be invited to share online some of their favourite Hong Kong neon signs, and participate in a series of guided outdoor "neon walks" to find some of the most interesting and exciting neon signs in Hong Kong. Strictly followed will be Lee Kit: Venice Biennale Hong Kong Response Exhibition at Cattle Depot Artist Village in March 2014. Selected as one of the four must-see pavilions at this year's Venice Biennale by Sotheby's, the exhibition will present not only Lee's highly acclaimed work in Venice but also a series of new commissions, which are both a response and an expansion on his visual investigation journey.
