M+ Executive Director hosted a harbour cruise for international art experts
West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) Executive Director Dr Lars Nittve, who oversees the Museum of Visual Culture, M+, hosted a harbour cruise on the opening day of the Hong Kong International Art Fair (ART HK) to welcome the fair participants for the biggest art gathering in town.
Over a hundred artists, gallerists and collectors from around the world enjoyed a morning glimpse of the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), the future heart of arts development in Hong Kong. During the cruise, Dr Nittve gave the audience an update on the development of the 40 hectare of reclaimed land, which aspires to be a grand stage for different forms of arts and cultural facilities, and shared his vision on how to make M+ a home for contemporary culture.
"This is really the first time we have a chance to talk about the vision for the future M+ with a large group of international collectors, gallery directors and journalists," said Dr Nittve. "One really feels the enormous interest and great excitement over the rapid developments in the field of art here in Hong Kong – and not the least over the M+ plans!"
M+ plans to build a temporary pavilion on the West Kowloon site in 2012. The main building is to open after 2016.
