Authority appoints Executive Directors for Communications and
Human Resources
The WKCDA has further strengthened its communications, branding as well as many of its internal and staffing functions by naming two more members to its executive director team.
The Authority recently announced that Mr Garmen Chan Ka-yiu, who currently serves as Senior Vice President, External Affairs for i-CABLE Communications Ltd, will serve as Communications and Marketing Executive Director; while Ms Eva Kwong Pui-han, Human Resources Manager for the CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd, will fill the top position for the Human Resources Department. Both will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the WKCDA, Mr Graham Sheffield.
Mr Henry Tang, Chairman of the Board of the WKCDA, said, "Much of our senior leadership is now in place, and I am confident that positive momentum behind the district will build to a critical mass over the next several months as the Executive Directors take to their tasks. I hope the management will work closely to take the district forward into an important phase this summer: the unveiling of the Conceptual Plan designs and the launching of the second stage of public engagement exercise."
Mr Sheffield said, "Mr Chan and Ms Kwong will be central to the WKCD’s success, both from an internal operations perspective and in terms of generating excitement for the district. I welcome them to the team and am very much looking forward to working with them."
Mr Chan has worked for nearly 35 years in journalism, communications and public affairs. Under his leadership, the Communications and Marketing Department will conduct public engagement exercises; engage in proactive public relations and external communications; develop and execute marketing and branding strategies; implement marketing promotions and campaigns; and, in conjunction with the departments in charge of project delivery, museum and performing arts, develop and design common-area special events and activities throughout Hong Kong to activate WKCDA's commitment to developing the district into an arts and cultural hub.
Ms Kwong has over 16 years of management experience, including time spent with regional and multinational companies such as Merck Sharp & Dohme (China) Ltd., United Airlines and Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation. She will oversee the employee and support activities of the WKCDA and will be responsible for managing staff recruitment, training and development, performance evaluations, administration of remuneration policy, administration of pay and other staff benefits, procuring supporting supplies, and managing the office on a day-to-day basis.
Ms Kwong assumed duty in early June while Mr Chan will assume duty in early August.
