The West Kowloon Cultural District is the largest cultural project in Hong Kong to date. Its vision is to provide a vibrant cultural quarter for the city; a vital platform for the local arts scene to interact, develop and collaborate; and major facilities to host and produce world-class exhibitions, performances and arts and cultural events.
The District will include 17 core arts and cultural venues and 30,000 square metres of space for arts education. It will be a low-density development, providing ample open green space and embracing two kilometres of a vibrant harbour-front promenade, 23 hectares of open space and a green avenue, and closely connected with the neighbourhood.
The WKCD is being developed principally for the people of Hong Kong but the scale of the project means that it will command attention from visitors from around the world and as such, needs to position itself as a leading cultural brand of the future.
The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) invites expressions of interest from agency interested in providing a proposal on the development of the organisation's primary website. The website will act as the first phase as part of a longer term online development strategy.
The proposal should cover the following, as a minimum:
The new website will serve as the main online communications channel for the organisation. There will be no e-commerce functionality as part of the development of this site. Development of a fully e-commerce enabled website that incorporates a sophisticated ticketing system for the authority will occur at a later stage. This site however should be considered as the first phase for the development of an e-commerce enabled website.
Please note that development of this site does not include branding or identity design, all brand assets will be provided to the developer as part of the development process. The development does however include information architecture and user interface design.
Interested parties shall submit their proposal together with (a) registered business name(s); (b) address(es) of their principal office(s); and (c) the name and postal and e-mail address(es) and contact telephone number(s) of the principal contact person for the agency or collaboration, before Hong Kong time 5:00 p.m. on 25 May 2012 to eoi@wkcda.hk.
If further details are required, please email to eoi@wkcda.hk with the subject line 'Development of New Website for West Kowloon Cultural District Authority'.
The issue of this invitation for expressions of interest to pre-qualify to tender does not necessarily mean that WKCDA will proceed to a formal tender stage.
