Stage 1 Public Engagement Exercise
Stage1 Public Engagement Exercise Report

Compendium
Foreword

To prepare a Development Plan for the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), the WKCDA has committed to undertake a three-stage public engagement (PE) exercise to gauge the views of both the general public and stakeholders, including those from the arts and cultural sector, in a structured way. The views received will be taken into account in the planning and design process of the WKCD.

A three-month Stage 1 PE exercise has been conducted from 8 October 2009 to 7 January 2010 to gauge the public and stakeholders’ aspiration and expectations on the planning of the WKCD as a whole as well as the requirements of facilities in the arts and cultural venues. Views on programmes and education-related activities in the future WKCD were also collected.

Views were collected through a diversity of channels including questionnaires, face-to-face interviews, written submissions, electronic platforms, forums/focus groups meetings and the media. A compendium containing all the views collected is consolidated.

The Compendium consists of
   1. Completed Questionnaires
   2. Written Submissions
   3. Views received via Electronic Platforms
   4. Transcripts/Notes of Public Engagement Forums and Meetings
   5. Views Expressed in the Media
