Museum Committee - Profiles of Co-opted Members

Ms Claire HSU Man-kai

Ms Hsu is the Executive Director and co-founder of Asia Art Archive, which is a public resource and platform for contemporary Asian art. Ms Hsu was a member of the Museums Advisory Group of the Consultative Committee on the Core Arts and Cultural Facilities of the WKCD. She is currently a member on the Board of The Foundation for Arts Initiatives (formerly the American Center Foundation), Advisory Board for Yishu magazine and the Advisory Committee of the Academy of Visual Arts of the Hong Kong Baptist University. Ms Hsu has spoken in a number of forums around the world. She received the RBS Coutts/Financial Times Women in Asia Award 2009.

Mr LEUNG Chi Wo

Mr Leung is an avant-garde multi-media artist.  He co-founded Para/Site Art Space and his site-specific project was exhibited in the first Hong Kong pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 2001.  He has received awards including the Asian Cultural Council fellowship, Urban Council Award of the Contemporary Hong Kong Art Biennial, and the first prize in sculpture from the Philippe Charriol Art Foundation.  Mr Leung was visiting artist to many art institutes and universities.  He is currently Assistant Professor in the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong.  

Ms Kai-Yin LO, SBS

Ms Lo is Hong Kong's outstanding jewelry designer who is globally recognized as one of the first Chinese designers to have successfully achieved brand status on the international market.  She was named the "World's Leading Chinese Designer" in 2007.  Ms Lo is also a recognized expert on Chinese art, a collector, author and art and cultural advisor who has been instrumental in promoting knowledge and appreciation of Chinese culture in the West.  Ms Lo has organized and curated numerous exhibitions including Hong Kong's Official Design Exhibition for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the defining "New China Chic" exhibition at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. (2005), and the landmark exhibition of Chinese artist Wu Guanzhong at the British Museum (1992).  She is the editor of five authoritative books on Chinese culture and design, and a sought-after speaker on subjects ranging from art, design, cultural history, branding to the creative city.  Ms Lo was a member of WKCD Museums Advisory Group in 2006-2007.  She is currently a member of the Asia-Pacific Art Acquisition Committee of Tate Modern, London, Global Council of Asia Society and the Museum of Art and Design, New York. 

Mr David PONG Chun-yee

Mr Pong is the incumbent Vice-Chairman of the Ink Society and is knowledgeable in contemporary Chinese ink paintings. He is devoted to the promotion of cultural exchange between local and overseas visual arts. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friends of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and the Board of Trustees of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Mr Pong is also a Council member of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, a co-opted Board member of the Hong Kong Arts Centre and a member of the Executive Committee of the Asian Cultural Council (HK Chapter).

Ms Nansun SHI

Ms Shi is one of Asia's most accomplished and respected film producers.  She is the Executive Director of Film Workshop, which she co-founded with her husband Tsui Hark in 1984.  Film Workshop has produced numerous box office successes including its latest production Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame.  Ms Shi is also a board member of the NASDAQ-listed Bona International Film Group. She served on the jury of the 57th Berlin International Film Festival in 2007 and the 64th Cannes International Film Festival in 2011.  She is a member of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, and was a member of WKCD Museums Advisory Group in 2006-2007.

Mr Alan WAN Siu-lun

Mr Wan has been serving as the Secretary of the Hong Kong Comics & Animation Federation Limited since 2002. He is knowledgeable in both youth culture and the creative arts. Mr Wan has a keen interest in digital entertainment and is devoted to the promotion of comics and animation in Hong Kong and the Mainland. He is currently an Adjudicator of the Panel of Adjudicators (Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles).
